In our English Composition Course II class we all chose to watch the movie American History X with actor Edward Norton, which is about a troubled white youth, Derek Vineyard, who was manipulated by a man, Cameron, to lead a group of white supremacists, but Derek winds up in jail after killing two young black men. Derek goes down a racist path as a teenager when his fireman dad gets killed by black men. After this happens, he is guided by Cameron to collect followers who are all passionate about one thing, the destruction of the black community. Derek's younger brother, Danny, looks up to Derek and looks to him as a father after their dad is killed. When Derek goes to jail for three years for murdering two black men, Danny turns to the same group that Danny created. Throughout his older brother's time in jail, Danny spends time with the brotherhood cult and also is manipulated into becoming a white supremacists against the African-American community.
