So, after watching the video If Disney Princesses Were Real, I am really glad that they are not. The video shows real life people portraying the lives of Disney Princesses, and it was dramatic. There was Cinderella who was at a party with her friend complaining about her stepsisters and how she blames them for not being able to find a boyfriend, she also says how she is going to wait for a guy to find her instead of doing something. There there was a singing skit at the end where all the princesses sang about their troubles. I liked this video. It made me want continue watching it because it involves what was popular in my childhood, and is even popular to this day. The purpose of this video was to inform the audience by using humor to show that it would be very bad if princesses were real. The message was that princesses don't need a "prince" to have a good life, they can make it happen themselves.

In this post I will be conducting a rhetorical analysis regarding these two clips for the Governor's Election, Governor Tom Corbett's campaign advertisement , Tom Wolf's campaign advertisement. For the Tom Corbett ad, Corbett is the only person talking to the audience, which to me makes me feel as if he's trying to sell himself. I don’t believe that by viewing this ad that I would vote for Corbett. He talks about what he has achieved in his past term, but does not talk about what we should expect of him this term. The whole ad feels cold to me and did not grab my attention. In the current Governor, Tom Corbett's, campaign ad the purpose was to inform and persuade the audience. The video shows Tom Corbett talking to town people at what looked to be like a meeting, and they showed him walking down the street talking to blue-collar people about what he has achieved so far. His message throughout was that he was going to achieve goals for the people and listen to the people. I did not get a sense of any emotion in his campaign so I don't believe there was a pathos. He does have credibility because he states facts of what he accomplished in his past term. By watching the Tom Wolf video clip with his two daughters and his wife, it made me feel like there is hope for our state. Which to me, is what people need when electing a new governor. I liked how he made it a family ad because it made me feel that he was one of the ordinary people instead of a politician. I would vote for Tom Wolfe. I like how he shared 20-30% of his profits with his employees. Giving away some of his earnings shows that he is not greedy. He drives a regular Jeep around his town. He lives a normal life like the working class, instead of indulging in the privileges. This ad makes me feel like he cares about the people. In Tom Wolf's ad, his purpose was to persuade and inform his audience. His message from this campaign is that he's a family man who cares more about helping his people then of the wealth of the job. Instead of talking through the whole video like Corbett, Wolf had his two daughters and his wife, and his employees talk for him. This shows that he doesn't have to sell himself because he has people that will back him up. The sense of emotion I saw from watching was hope. There was also credibility in Wolf's video by having others speak about Wolf on his behalf. There were facts by saying his he gives away some of his profit to his employees and that his government salary he gives away to charity. |
