The movie Vertigo was created in 1958 by famous director Alfred Hitchcock. This movie is about a detective who suffers from a fear of heights and is hired by a friend to become a personal investigator and follow the friend's wife. The friend believes his wife is possessed and is acting different. When the detective starts to follow the wife around, he becomes increasingly obsessed and attracted to her. At one point, the wife commits suicide. The, the detective spots another woman who looks similar to the wife and so the detective asks this new woman to dress and act like his friend's wife. The movie ends with the wife admitting that her husband convinced her to fake her own death, then ultimately, she ends up falling to her death at the top of a bell tower.
Three movies I think should be considered for our class research paper are Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock, Tombstone by George P. Cosmatos and Kevin Jarre, and also The Blind Side by John Lee Hancock. I think that this movie would be good for our class research paper because it's a classic and everyone should watch this movie at least once in their lifetime. The movie Tombstone is also a great movie created in 1993 with famous actors such as Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. It's about a well-known lawman named Wyatt Earp who moves to a new town called Tombstone with his brothers and close friend, Doc Holliday. Instead of putting his past behind him of being a lawman like he wanted to do, a group of outlaws travel into town and commit violent acts and break laws. Because of this, Wyatt Earp and his family start eliminating the outlaws one by one. This movie has great detail of the wild west of the past. It would be a great movie to watch for class and would be great for our research paper. We could research crime of the past and how it was resolved. The Blind Side is based on a true story and is heart-wrenching, to me at least. It is about a homeless black teenager, Michael Oher, who is noticed for his size. The football coach of a nice, prestige high school spots Michael Oher one day and manages to get him into the high school where he coaches football at. Then, a wealthy Southern mom, Leigh Ann, her husband and her son were driving home on a rainy night and see Michael walking on the side of the road towards the high school. When Leigh Ann asks Michael if he had anywhere to go, she invites him to stay at her house. Eventually, Michael stays with the family and they adopt him and make him part of their family. The movie ends with Michael getting accepted to multiple college football teams and heading off to college. The Blind Side is a great movie that has humor, drama and some action that would make anyone enjoy watching it. In the movie, they show how the foster system had missing information on Michael Oher's life during his time in foster homes. A research paper could be involving foster system and how it's not as organized as it should be.

Writing my Out of Place story is hard for me. Primarily because of the topic I chose. The topic I chose is the death of my dad and what happened the night he died, which could be the most personal event of my life. When writing what I have done so far of this story I had to take many breaks. I would write a couple of sentences and then needed a distraction so that I didn't overthink on the events as a whole. What I have written down so far I believe isn't terrible, but will definitely need some fixing up.
When typing out the second half of my rough draft so far, I had given myself just a couple of hours when I should have given myself more time. I, also, was in my living room with a tv show on in the background. This was not the best environment I could have been in to complete my paper. When I write the rest of my story, I will choose a better place to complete it. My theme throughout my story would have to be confusion. Constantly, I was asking myself questions throughout the whole event. Questions like "Is this really happening?" "Am I dreaming?" "Why is this happening to my family?" I think I can fix up my paper and make the theme stand out more. |
